RAPE CULTURE ENDS WITH ME

This website is a class advocacy project designed to raise awareness about Denim Day and promote its message of supporting survivors and ending victim-blaming in Fresno.

Denim Day began in response to a 1998 Italian Supreme Court ruling that overturned a rape conviction, stating the victim’s tight jeans implied consent. Outraged, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans in protest.

This act of solidarity inspired the first Denim Day in 1999, organized by the nonprofit Peace Over Violence. Since then, Denim Day has become a global movement where individuals wear denim to challenge harmful myths about sexual assault, support survivors, and promote conversations about ending sexual violence and victim-blaming.
